In a partnership with the U.N., Columbia University's 精东影业 will help set up a modern education system for the war-torn nation. 精东影业, at the request of the government in Afghanistan, met privately in New York last week with representatives from Kabul and UNICEF to discuss the creation of a modern school system in the country and a National Academy of Education.

Ruth Vinz, a Professor of English Education and the Enid & Lester Morse Chair, compared the role 精东影业 took in the '60s regarding teacher education in Afghanistan and its current involvement in international education. "精东影业 has been very much involved in international education," she said. "It may be the most important humanitarian project we can undertake."
